Fireman's Auction

Each year our family grows and so we've decided that it's time to do a "fundraiser" to save money for the next years reunion. 
So, we are going to have a FIREMAN"S AUCTION (or Chinese Auction - or any other name you want to call it :)
Here is how it works -

Everyone brings nice items, homemade crafts or arts or even a very nice used item, that you are no longer using. Everyone buys tickets for $1 each, write your name on the tickets and then each item has a paper bag next to it. so you drop a ticket or many in each bag, depending on how badly you want that item. Then after the time period for bidding is up. someone draws one ticket out of each bag and they win the item.
So someone could get an item for cheap, but everyone that bid is also paying for it. We thought it would be a fun way to raise money for future reunions. Everyone would bring crafts, art or nice things to the reunion for this auction.... I love seeing everyone's talents and fun ideas too.... We thought it would be a blast.

We will do a Kids table for .50 a ticket - please bring a few kids items.  Things that kids would want, but that are in good condition or new.

Please Remember to bring a couple Items (And some extra cash / Checks / Quarters - (for the kids))

Here is an e-mail from Liz:

I talked with the ranger at the park yesterday.

I found out that there is electric in out group sight.
(there is only one over night group camp sight the other is for day use only)

There are even lights there, but they shut off at 10pm, that is when quiet time starts,
so we need to be done with our activities and quiet by that time each night.

We have a covered pavilion with tables.

Pets are allowed as long as they are on a leash at all times.

And as far as the mosquitoes, he said they are not that bad this year, and they
have a company that comes out and sprays for them.  He gave me their number
so I could call and just let them know that we have a big group coming and so they
can spray right before we get there.  Hopefully that will help, but I'd bring you bug
spray and candles etc. too!

We want to do a Baby Shower so, I am wondering how many of the pregnant women will be there and what sex of baby they are having. (if they know)

If you have any crafts you could bring, please do, we will have fun on Sunday doing those.

Also, please please bring a few items for the fireman's auction.

This might be the day to go do paint balling, do a baby shower,
go play at a park, play in the water etc...
(Anita has a beautiful hike she wants to take some people on up Ogden canyon too)

Dinner: Anita & Charity, Aubrie, Scott: Toco soup

SATURDAY:
Temple: everyone who wants to go to the tempe go early!!!
Breakfast: Liz, Michael & Ivana: cereal  or eggs/ham/cheese sand. & fruit

Utah Visit,

We have been enjoying our stay in Utah, visiting family has been wonderful. It is so good to see everyone. We got to Grandma Zora Mae's Post B-day celebration and Dad's 1 yr anniversary of his death picnic. We got to see all the relatives and even the Tarr babies were there. We have stayed with Mom, Jake & Tiffany, Sarah and have gotten to visit with Anita and Sally too. We are just enjoying ourselves so much. Thanks to all of you for putting us up and putting up with us. We spent the 4th of July at Tiffany's parents beautiful cabin, that was great fun. Going to the rodeo and watching fireworks, we had a blast. We toured the church history museum, nice.

The boys have swam in the warm spring, Lauren holding Mom's new puppy Chloe, everyone loves her(well both Lauren & Chloe). We were at Matt's Farwell in Logan, good luck Matt in Samera Russia.

Update From Robin

Hi every one I have not been on a computer for a while.. I got a job at home depot and am loving it.. I started out at a low rate but I know there is great opportunity in management and great benefits.. I hope to be able to go to the family reunion next year, I have not been for a long time and miss going. My life today is calm! and that is great. by the way I am going to be a grandmother for a second time. Kira and matt are having #2 we are excited and I hope it is a girl. I will be happy to spoil this one. it was hard to get into being a grandma last time because I was pregnant too. and then had my own new baby to play with.. all the kids are doing well. mike is engaged to his girlfriend and they will marry in october.. got to go now my time is up love you all

RUSSIA, SAMARA Mission!
We are so excited for you! Matt tell us all about the excitement of opening your mission call and what you are think about going to Russia! Has it sunk in at all?

Here is some info I happened upon when I Googled your mission:
Russia Samara is the 3rd oldest LDS Mission in Russia,and although others may try to claim it, is really the Greatest Mission in the World. It is the largest in Russia, covering 3 time zones. There were 11 cities open in the mission while I served there: Samara, Novokyibishevsk, Togliatti, Kazan, Ulyanovsk, Marx, Engles, Saratov, Penza, Balakova, and Orenburg... for a total of 16 branches and 2 districts. While I was there, we had about 100 missionaries in the mission.

I was trying to play an April Fool's joke on Kate.. She asked for a sandwich "make it just like you always make it for me" she said. This is what she got! Emily was totally up for the idea ... she's still at te non-picky eater stage! So funny!!

Melody's Blessing

Melody Aurora Eves was blessed Sunday, Mar. 29th in Rexburg, Idaho. We had a terrible wind and snow storm outside, but inside, Melly was recieving a wonderful priesthood blessing. Dustin did a wonderful job, while Sara's brothers, and both grandfathers stood in the circle. It was a wonderful day. Melody was so good, and Jay said she seemed to focus just above her head as the blessing were being given, as if she were looking at angels. So sweet! She even was good for all the fussing and picture taking. Congratulations baby Melody!

A bishop was walking down the street one day when he noticed a young primary boy in his ward trying to press the doorbell of a home on the street. The boy was very small and the doorbell was too high for him to reach it, so the Bishop decided to help him by pressing the doorbell. Crouching down to the child's level, the Bishop smiled benevolently and asked, "And now what, young brother?" To which the boy replied, "Now we run!"

Sara's Letter to Brooke -Morrill update

3-16-09

Hi Brooke!

It was so great to “instant message” you last Monday! I copied and pasted it all to the letters I have saved on my computer (also so dad could read it all)!

It snowed about 14 inches by the time it was through last Monday! It was cold all week until Friday and the snow started to melt. This morning it is already 50 degrees outside! There is still tons of snow in the backyard though!

Your package for Luke & Vincent got here last Monday afternoon too! The chocolate carmel “moom Pies” were great. Luke & Vincent had a “Super Koa” party too. (I’ll attach the picture of it). We love your pictures!! It's great to see your mission! Thanks

Tuesday we had a Stake Young Women Sports night. Haley's teacher from school (Mrs. Squire) is in our ward and she is also our Stake Athletic Director and she had a lady come that taught pilates (good burn) and then everyone could choose between facials, basketball or exercise with a dvd. It was good. I was in charge of the refreshments and cut up all the apples & oranges (we also had grapes & whipped topping for dip).

Matt read your letter and told me to tell you that he really liked it and thanks! He left Thursday morning with 6 friends to go to California. (Joey Burt’s mom had a timeshare they stayed at.) Lara went with them, which is a little funny because these are the guys who get together and study for their missions and girls are not allowed to study with them, because it would be a “distraction”! Ha-ha! (Maybe Lara just doesn’t want to study with them??) They got back about 5 am this morning (dad must have heard Matt get in) and Matt’s asleep now!

Oh yeah, Happy St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow!!! Did you get the card we sent??

On Wednesday and Thursday I got ready for a Poison Safety and Prevention lesson I taught 4 times on Friday at Adams during each grades field day. It went good (I was able to show a “Poison Adventure” dvd that lasted 20 minutes, so it took up ½ the time!).

I also prepared a Young Women’s lesson to teach on Sunday to the 5th and 18th wards (Sake YW teach 2 x’s a year). The lesson was “Supporting your Family Members” and it went well. I really like all the scriptures and quotes from it. I am so glad our family is friends with each other and there is not all the fighting that goes on with siblings in some families!

President Hinckley gave the young women “a simple four-point program” that will strengthen us and will bless your family. He counseled each of us to “pray, study, pay your tithing, and attend your meetings”

Seeking the help of the Lord daily through prayer will bring great blessings to your family. Ask yourself: “Who in my family could benefit from my personal prayers?” “What could I do to support and encourage family prayer?”

As you personally study the scriptures, you will come to know the Savior and His teachings. From His example you will know how to love, serve, and forgive members of your family.

President Hinckley taught us, “While tithing is paid with money, more importantly it is paid with faith”. Are you experiencing the blessings of paying tithing—with faith? As you obey this commandment, the Lord will “open … the windows of heaven” to bless you and your family. (Paying tithing helps us to be unselfish and Christ-like.)

How can attending your meetings—particularly sacrament meeting—bless you and your family? Regularly partaking of the sacrament will help you keep your baptismal covenant. As you live worthily and renew this covenant weekly, you will qualify for the guidance of the Spirit. The Holy Ghost will guide you and will teach you what you should do to bless your family.

“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12).

“Strengthen your relationships with your brothers and sisters. They can become your closest friends”. (For Strength of Youth, “Family”)

Home is the place where we come to get our buckets filled, and that we should watch for and be sensitive to others, because we are responsible for helping to fill our brothers’ and sisters’ needs”

Your supportive attitudes can be contagious. These attitudes can spread from you to every member of your family, fostering feelings of warmth and unity.



In Sacrament meeting the high councilman reminded us what was said by one of the visiting authorities in Stake Conference. He asked “Where are your neighbors?” We need to help re-activate our neighbors who are in-active and he told how in Africa they don’t start their Sunday meetings until everyone on their list has arrived or they go to their homes and get them!

I am planning on sending you an Easter package in about a week, so let me know next week if there is anything you are in need of that you can’t get there!

Pinewood Derby

Jason raced in the pinewood derby this weekend. He got first in the ward, and 8th out of the two wards who raced. Kaeley raced her car for fun, and hers was faster than Jason's by just a hair. They both had fun. They both designed their own cars. Dad used the power tools, and attatched their wheels. The kids did the rest! What fun!

Beverly's 50 Years Young

I had a great birthday party and v-day.  We got to go to a fancy dinner up at the living desert zoo.  The chorale that I sing with put it on and so I got to sing for my supper.   I sang 'someone to watch over me' that is the song that I first sang to Jon when we were first dating, so it had special meaning for us on Valentines Day.   The evening was magical, Anna and her freind Jesse (he is a really nice guy and Jon & I like him a lot) came out for the dinner and to celebrate my birthday.   Michelle even got to come along and we all had a great time (she is Monica's mom and lives in our basement with her little girls) .  It was a perfect evening, I got a great dress in Santa Fe and I felt very special.  

We celebrated my birthday on Sunday, so I could enjoy my peach cobbler and banana splits,  My diet goes from Monday thru Wednsday of each week and i don't want to break the good discipline.  I have lost 15 lbs in 4 weeks and I am excited to keep it going.  I posted the diet on facebook, 3 day free diet from the cleveland clinic.  It is easy and not expensive, two prerequisites for me. 

 

Any way the MOST EXCITNG NEWS is that Sam has checked himself into the University Hospital and he sounded very stable when he called this morning.  That was the best birthday present of all.  I have his number and code if anyone would like to call him.

We've been having fun with our new little sister! She is so smiley and so fun! She still has lungs and knows how to scream, but that is ok.
She is sleeping alright, some good nights, some bad. there seem to be more of the good nights!
Also, Emily is turning 3 on the 27th of Feb! And so far still doesn't want to potty train at all. We are TRYING to be patient!

Mom's Update for February

We welcome little Melody Aurora to the Eves clan. You made a wonderful choice in picking Dustin and Sara as your MOMMY & DADDY. They will raise you with the spirit of our Heavenly Father to guide them. And congrats to GRANDPA JAY AND GRANDMA LEISA. Have fun spoiling her!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAN. I hope you are home now. I phoned all your #'s and no one answered. I hope you got Dads CD too. You can burn it to more if you want the kids to have one.

Well Kids, this Face Book stuff is driving me crazy. My password is always wrong, and when i have them give me one it won't go onto the page. I give up. But I am keeping as busy as possible. I'm not working but I'm reading Grandma's book to the residents at the care center on Tue morn at 9 am and at 3:30 today I have an interview at the Manti Temple to volunteer in the kitchen. They've got a freeze on hiring right now. I'll probably be washing dishes!! I'll let you know how that goes. It may help to get me in the door when the freeze is over. I'd really like to work there. I also applied to sub at the Gunnison schools in the kitchen. I should probably ask about other subbing too.

I'm making "HUGS" and also birthday presents, which is keeping me pretty busy since there are so many b'days at this time of year. We had a great surprise party for Anita at the JSMB on her Birthday. It was fun, and she was really surprised! It was so good to see Denise Herman Roberts. Remember her?
Well there's not much more to be excited about except the freezing weather in the morn and sunny later. I am getting out for walks now.
I hope you all recieved your CD and picture of DAD. I listen to him a lot even with all the flaws in the recording. I got a CD from Edmond, my bro, of little Nicole, David Hughes' daughter, who died on Nov. 17th of Cystic Fibrosis and other complications. It showed movies and pictures of her from birth up to when she was in the Hospital the last time. She was a happy little girl in spite of all her health problems and many times in the hospital.

Melody Aurora Eves was born at 5:28 MST on January 21st, 2009, 20 inches, and 9 pounds 13 ounces! Sara's doing great and pushed the baby out after about 11 hours of labor, but from the time she started pushing, it only took 20 minutes! First-time moms usually take at least an hour. The doctor and nurses were amazed! She did awesome! We don't have any pictures of us with her yet, but we will soon! ...anyway, enjoy the pictures!-Dustin

SNOHOMISH -- After moving all the way from Illinois, the three Morrill brothers seem to be fitting in quite nicely to the Snohomish wrestling team's winning ways.The Panthers won all but one match on Senior Night, posting a 63-5 victory over Marysville-Pilhuck to improve their record to 6-1 in the Wesco North and 9-2 overall."Its kind of been a pleasant surprise with them (Morrill brothers) on the team," Snohomish head coach Rob Zabel said. Mom's Christmas Vacation

Happy New Year alll my children!!
I had such a good Christmas. Thanks to all you who were able to send me there on the plane.
The trip out and back was great! No snow, etc!!!
It was so good to get to know Jason and Kaeley better. They were so fun. We had a blast playing with their toys. That Fairy princess castle was amazing! Jasons was so creative in building different futuristic designes of his rollercoaster. Have you tried any of those examples yet??? Or still doing your own thing???? You're so intelligent!!!! They surprised me by giving me a beautiful bright stainless steel roaster. We've got to have a big party now so I can use it. By the way, Jay, my friends want a catalog for the pots and pans. I told them about Leisa's.
I also spent some days with Liz and the kids while Rob, Micah and Mark were in Reno at a wrestling toury. It was good to get to know Ana, Shane and McKaye and Ammon and Peder better. I especially enjoyed getting to know little McKaye. She's a doll, and also rebuilding Ana's 'blankie' with cupcake material. And I watched Ammon put together four new diningroom chairs. He did such a good job.
Finally little Lindsey Belle timed coming into the world just right because i got back to SL just after Sally got home with her so I could be of help for a few days. She is absolutely adorable. Kate and Emily love her so much and are so sweet with her. Be sure to give those two lots of hugs all the time.
I am home now and preparing 'meals on wheels' for one more week. Then there is a good chance I will be going to the "Manor" to prepare their meals while Gunnison tears down and rebuilds the building we are in now. I may be working at the Deli in Gunnison market too. I will know tomorrow about that one!
I love you all so much, and hope you had a good holiday. Fun reading about Knudson Family vacation on their blog. Sarah I couldn't get the "Merry Goose Christmas" I want to get it please.

A STAR IS BORN

Lindsey Belle is HERE! Sally had her beautiful baby girl on Sunday Dec 28th at 2:38 pm. She is adorable! here are the pictures Anita sent out by email if you didn't get to see them enjoy!CONGRATULATIONS Ryan and Sally, Emily & Kate! SO precious!!Here are some recent pictures of the Girls! Ryan's out numbered 4 to 1! His B-day is Monday the 12th so send a quick e-mail if you get a chance! :)

Whittaker Christmas Update

We had a great Christmas! We decided at 8:45 to wake the girls up! :)
Mainly because I had been having contractions through out the morning hours - but nothing consistent. They started to get a little worse so I thought we should get the Christmas fun over just in case I had to go in or something. But luckily the contractions stopped after the girls got up!
The other thing was that the power went out so when we got up it was freezing! I was awake at 6:30am timing a contraction when the clock went off! So I called the power company, turned out I was the first call they got from West Jordan! :) So thanks to me it came back on by about 10:00am or something. j/k
Also, we got about 6-8 inches of snow!! We aren't sure how much of that was just snow drifts from all the wind, but it's crazy because just across town at Ryan's parents house they didn't get any snow!! After presents we played and napped and then went to Ryan's family dinner at 3:30. All in all the kids had a great Christmas and were spoiled! We tried not to... Anita was part of it, she is to blame for some spoiling! :) Kate's 2 favorite toys are Lucky the Wonder Pup - (responds to 15 commands) and her my little pony remote control moped! :) Emily loved the Doll Anita got her - a baby Snow White with a bottle and also her My Little Pony Amusement Park. She also got a little puppy that barks. I got a great recliner and Ryan got a 12"Miter Saw. Most of what we got was not paid for by our own money - Ryan luckily had John Deer points / money he had to use before the end of the year - about 800$ that had to be used! And we are using a lot of that for some baby gear. A new car seat and swing etc...
Speaking of Lindsey, she got the cutest fleece snow suit from Mom and a few other cute outfits! Already spoiled before she's born! :) The net time you hear from me may be to tell you about the new bundle of joy we'll be having any time now!
